ALCDSB Marks Mental Health Week with Focus on Connection

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) will recognize Mental Health Week during the first week of May, aligning with this year’s national theme, “Come Together, Canada: Stronger Connections. Better Mental Health.”

Educators across the board are encouraged to use the week to highlight how classroom practices, peer relationships, supportive adults, and inclusive school environments contribute to student and staff well-being. Age-appropriate resources from community partners have been provided to support these efforts.

Materials from the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) emphasize the role of belonging and connection in mental health, while School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ONoffers practical tools to foster emotionally safe and inclusive learning spaces. Additional resources from Southeast Public Health (SEPH) include school activities, communication materials, and supports for families to reinforce consistent messaging at home and in school.

Together, these initiatives aim to underscore mental health as a key foundation for student success.
